Analysis : Indonesia cement still no notable pickup

The Jakarta Post - Based on data announced by the Indonesian Cement Association, the country’s domestic cement industry experienced a slow month in February as cement volumes reached 4.5 million tons, a 2.5 percent decline month-on-month (m-o-m), and a 2.9 percent increase year-on-year (y-o-y).

On the back of weak January volumes, this brought January-February volumes to a total of 9.2 million tons, representing growth of only 1.3 percent y-o-y compared to the same period in 2013. Apart from the higher interest rate environment, we view unfavorable weather conditions as a main reason behind the weak performance.
